Just Hanging Around...

This week I had the luxury of getting to hang out in my installation piece whilst reflecting on the next step that I wanted to take with my installation work. My goal was to create an outdoor and innovative space that students would be able to create, imagine, and feel welcomed.  I loved the idea given to me by another fellow artist to have my students assist in designing the rocks. It was the perfect second to last week of school project---as it was that time of the year to send home all of their fantastic work of art! I am in the midst of designing and assembling a colorful rainbow fence for our art cove. I also, am continuing working on the walls. I am getting closer to reaching a stopping point. However, as we all know, the walls will never truly ever be complete. There will always be something to evolve and fill with color and design. But, we are creating a great starting point to inspire minds.

On a side note: the mural that I have been most recently working on, is one that is near and dear to my heart. The woman is Mae McMillan, the founder of my school and the lover of the arts.

She is known for saying "I MYSELF STRONGLY FEEL THAT TOMORROW’S PEOPLE… WILL PROFIT BY ANY KNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATION OF ART, MUSIC, DRAMA, AND SPEECH THAT WE CAN GIVE THEM."

That very quote is one that I aim to put onto the mural to the right of her.
